Ghostly Images

A friend of mine captured these ghostly images in Atlanta over the holidays.
He was doing geneology research in a cemetary, and taking reference pictures so he could find the tombstone again if he needed to.

He didn't realize that he had these picture until after he got home and looked at them.

Main Desktop Reinstall Screenshot

I went for a much darker look on the desktop this time around.
It seems to be easier on the eyes. Time will tell ...

I have a static IP on my foresight machine, but it looses the DNS entry between logins.

Foresight Problem With Screen Resolution

I'm having a problem with screen resolution in Foresight 2.0.5 Gnome Edition. The Screen Resolution applet would not give me a resolution of 1600x1200. I updated the xorg.conf file to include my monitor settings. And then changed it to include the modes for my monitor. When I do this X runs at the correct resolution, but gnome thinks it is the old resolution. GDM does the same thing.
See attached screenshot of what it looks like.

Parts of the configuration file I've changed:

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
ModelName "Monitor Model"

Susquehanna Sunrise accepted at art.gnome.org

Susquehanna Sunrise has finally accepted October 11th at art.gnome.org! It is closing in on 1,000 downloads.

You can get it by going to Susquehanna Sunrise. Note that in Internet Explorer the site doesn't work that well and you have to scroll down the page to get to the download. Click on the Resolution to download the picture.

Tidings of Great Joy: Compiler Construction with PLY

I've just discovered and installed PLY ( Python Lex Yacc ) for constructing compilers.
This seems almost too good to be true. I'm dying to give it a crack at the cinnamon language I've been designing.
I'm so overyjoyed that I decided to do a bit of googling before I fired up flex and bison. This could possibly give me a parser before the beginning of the year, wahoo!

The homepage is here: http://www.dabeaz.com/ply/

Ubuntu + Enlightenment E17

Piece of cake to get the new enlightenment installed, and then install entrance. This feels like old times again.
See attached screenshot, and remember this is on my notebook!

Wish list for Microsoft Hedgehog

With a new version of windows on the way, I thought it was time for me to put in my wish list for the upcoming version of windows. Since I don't now the name I think it's safe to assume that Microsoft will name the release Hedgehog :)

It only consists of one item.

Silence.

I want a preference setting that prevents all normal windows functionality, sounds, background transfers, popup boxes, tooltips, messages, and notifications to be prevented when running in this mode.
If it interferes with sound and video in any way supress it.
